Booking forms for the holiday club week have been sent out; if you would like to book any sessions during the week (Tuesday 29th March – Friday 1st April) please get your form back to the office as soon as possible. The theme is Get Active, so the children will be even more active than usual this week. Throughout the week we’ll be taking part in a range of energetic activities from football to hide and seek!
On Tuesday 29th Little Kickers will be joining us in the afternoon.
Wednesday 30th is fitness day where, weather permitting we’ll be doing an exercise class in Canford Park.
On Thursday 31st children will be jumping, running and throwing in our mini-olympics activities.
Lastly on Friday 1st, the children will be introduced to some more popular sports through a range of games and ball games.
It has been a very busy last few weeks here at Jack and Jill and we just wanted to update you all on what’s been going on.
On Friday 26th February we welcomed Charlotte Leslie (MP for Bristol North West) to Jack and Jill. She was really impressed with the setting and spent more than an hour touring the site and speaking to staff and children. You may have spotted us in the Bristol Post as well as on Charlotte’s Facebook page. The purpose of the visit was to help us celebrate our second consecutive Outstanding Ofsted inspection which we achieved last summer.
On the evening of Tuesday 1st March we welcomed around thirty parents into the Pre-school to join in an ‘achieving positive behaviour and managing conflict’ workshop. The feedback we had from those parents that attended was extremely positive. We would like to thank everyone that came along and contributed to discussions and asked questions. Thanks also go to Valerie Paisey for organising and running a real high quality session.
On Wednesday 2nd March we held our first Parent and Practitioner Association (PPA) event of the year. This took the form of a cake sale raising money for The Grand Appeal (Bristol Children’s Hospital), Smile with Siddy and Mothers for Mothers. We would like to thank all of the grandparents, parents and children who baked such a wonderful array of lovely, tasty cakes for the sale and especially all the parents who came along to help run the stall. Lastly, thanks to all of you that bought some cakes. We can now report that the amount raised for the three charities came in at over £150. A great effort – well done and thanks!
Thursday 3rd March was World Book Day. At Jack and Jill we invited all the children to come dressed as their favourite literary character which proved to be a big hit. From Meg and Mog to Goldilocks, all the children looked fantastic in their costumes and enjoyed a great day. Book vouchers were handed out too, so please go out and buy a new book for your child to enjoy!
Finally, the PPA will be running several other events before the end of the academic year but we are in need of some more recruits! If you think you could help please let the office know and we will ensure you get information regarding the next meeting.
This year our last day of Pre-school is Thursday 17th December.
We are closed for an in-service day on Friday 18th December.
We will re-open on Monday 4th January 2015.
The staff at Jack and Jill would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
